Contribution breakdown
How EPF contributions work
Under EPFO rules, both employee and employer contribute 12% of wages (basic + DA) toward Provident Fund. The employee's entire 12% goes to the EPF account. The employer's 12% is split: 8.33% (capped at ₹1,250/month when wages exceed ₹15,000) goes to EPS, and the remainder goes to EPF.
When basic + DA exceeds ₹15,000 per month, employers may calculate PF on the actual wages or restrict contributions to the ₹15,000 wage ceiling—depending on company policy and employee consent.
This calculator uses the standard 12% rate on the amount you enter. Additional components like EDLI and admin charges are employer costs not deducted from employee salary.
